Couples Therapy

I am extensively trained in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT). Whether you guys are just looking to strengthen your relationship or this feels like your last resort, EFCT is about getting to the heart of the matter. Very often, I see that heart as two people wanting the exact same thing, but feeling torn apart by something called a negative interactive cycle. All couples have this; it is a predictable pattern of disconnection. In therapy, we learn this pattern together and re-organize it in real time so that you guys can begin to catch this pattern on your own in between sessions. This then allows us to create new patterns rooted in connection, which then lays the foundation for us to create secure attachment. EFCT is a beautiful process of getting to know yourself and your partner in ways you didn’t realize you could!

Family Therapy

I may not have the manual for how to raise a kid, but I did have the privilege to train with the folks who wrote the manual for Emotionally Focused Family Therapy! The bond between a caregiver (parent) and care-receiver (child or adult child) is sacred and unique, it is unlike any other bond a therapist is trained to treat. My job is to help heal the blocks between a parent and child so that they can clearly connect to each other. Family therapy is not a place where “bad parents,” go to get scolded; it is a place where brave parents with loving hearts go to meet their child’s bid to connect with them. It is my job to hold a safe and nonjudgmental environment so that we can prioritize what matters: connecting a child to their parent.

As an attachment therapist, my focus with individuals often is improving their relationships with themselves and healing their attachment wounds left by others. So often, the ways we learned to survive childhood or earlier years in our adulthood required us to use strategies that were harsh and unforgiving with ourselves, like being an overachiever, or only considering others’ needs and rarely our own. It worked to get us through the hard times, but now that we’re out of the hard times, we don’t know how else to treat ourself! That is where I am happy to come in and help you learn to let go of old survival strategies, and start using new strategies that are based in your own value system to create a life led by your authentic Self. This can also mean we heal relational trauma as well.

Individual Therapy

Please note, while I am trained in adherent DBT, I am no longer accepting suicidal and self-harming clients at this time. If you are interested in my services, please complete the full DBT treatment program of Stage 1 DBT and then seek me when you are ready for Stage 2 DBT (aka treating trauma!).
